The use of audio on web sites has almost become mainstream on today's Internet, but are you taking advantage of this platform to promote your business? Software has become easier to use, and in some cases free to obtain. So what about audio and you?
Audio can be a used on your web site in a variety of ways.
As a quick example. I've recorded a brief audio file with some music backing.

Using a mixture of voice and music certainly adds a 'radio' feel to things and ups the ante for multimedia presentations that can be presented via the web.
Add a slide presentation, a Power Point display, or some video and you practically have a tool whereby you can not only interact with site visitors, but display your business in a way that was only possible once upon a time via expensive media outlets like television and radio.
Here are some ideas to promote yourself or your business with audio:
Create E-Ads (just like those 30 second radio ads you hear every day, but you can target a particular product, service, or even a particular article on your web site.
Interviews - Invite someone who is well known in your business field to partake in a recorded interview where you can ask questions that your clients can benefit from. If you use Skype there is a plug in called Pamela that records Skype conversations. Very handy if your interview subject is interstate or international.
Commentary - Provide a personal view of the current state of your industry.
Presentations - You've created a killer Power Point but how do you nail down the client to present it to her? No problem. Record it and upload to a secure area of your site that they can access at their leisure. This also enables you to personalise things just for them.
Navigation Aids- Entice visitors to join your mailing list, where to click to see the latest specials, or invite them to come back for future events
The applications are only limited by your imagination. So what are you waiting for?

Useful software:
Windows and Mac both have sound recorders that come standard. These have limited editing and mixing facilities but are good enough to get you going.
Otherwise a quick Google search for audio recorders should bring up something that you will find useful.
A good quality headset/microphone can be picked up for around $30.00. My favorite is Logitech, but you be the judge.
